Maidenhead is a market town in Berkshire on the Thames, offering plenty to see and do. Take a picturesque walk along the river to Boulter’s Lock, then cross the bridge to the pretty Ray Mills Island where you’ll find a park, café, playground and guinea pig pen to keep young ones entertained. The Thames Path, a national walking trail, also connects Maidenhead to the nearby villages of Cliveden and Cookham, or you can leave your walking shoes at your serviced apartment in favour of a boat trip to nearby Windsor. Award-winning Norden Farm Centre for the Arts makes for a great day out for all the family, with an art gallery, studio theatre, main auditorium for film and live performance, café, Georgian farmhouse and 18th-century barn onsite. It’s only a 10-minute drive to nearby Dorney – on select dates you can marvel at the Grade I listed Tudor architecture of Dorney Court. More adventurous travellers will enjoy the wakeboarding, water-skiing, paddleboarding, kayaking, archery and axe throwing available at family-owned Taplow Lakeside, a mere six-minute drive from our serviced apartments in town.
Take a stroll around Nicholson's Shopping Centre, where you can find 60 stores including big-name brands. You’ll also find popular Craft Coop inside the shopping centre, showcasing items from over 150 local sellers, artists and craftspeople – it’s a great spot to pick up something really unique. On Market Street, Thames Antiques offers a treasure trove of interesting and unique items. Hit the High Street for independent stores and boutiques – we particularly like zero-waste shop Filling Good, providing environmentally-friendly sustainable food, beauty and cleaning products. Once a month Maidenhead hosts a farmers’ market where you can buy seasonal items from local producers, including Celtic Organic Bakers, Styan Family Produce, Castleman’s Farm, Parm’s Kitchen and more – if you’re lucky enough to be in town do swing by to purchase the best of local. For even more shopping options try The Oracle or Broad Street Mall in Reading or browse around the designer boutiques in Windsor.
Maidenhead boasts a great selection of cafes and restaurants in the town centre and along the river. Five minutes from our serviced apartments is artisan bakery Bakedd, where you can buy homemade pastries, cakes, bread and sandwiches. Chai Cocoa is a family-friendly cosy spot for eco-friendly coffee and a seasonal menu of bites. Try Miyazaki for freshly made sushi, sashimi and Japanese hot dishes; family-run Sorano for fine-dining Italian; or Alghero for gourmet pizza just three minutes’ walk from our serviced apartments. The nearby village of Bray is renowned as a culinary hotspot with some superb fine dining options for guests to enjoy – The Waterside Inn is particularly popular for its French dishes in an elegant setting overlooking the Thames.
Meet colleagues for after work drinks by the river at The Boathouse at Boulter’s Lock. Unwind with a glass of wine and enjoy the stunning views. Or grab a bucket of popcorn and enjoy a night at the flicks - the Odeon Maidenhead Cinema has eight screens and shows a variety of films, including all the latest Hollywood blockbusters. For craft beer head to Off The Tap, which also regularly hosts open mic nights, live music and comedy.
