London - Christmas shopping destinations Tuesday, 13th December 2022

Our capital is famously home to some of the most awe-inspiring shopping destinations. From whimsical arcades and boutique stores to bustling high street chains and mega malls, there is something for every taste and budget and a huge amount of choice.

Oxford Street

Oxford Street is the epitome of shopping heaven and an experience you’ve got to see to believe. Stretching almost 1.5 miles long, if you can dream it, chances are you can get it on Oxford Street. And, at this time of year, it's extra special with the famous Christmas lights, which sparkle from high above.

With shops to suit all budgets, there are department stores aplenty (many flagship stores) as well as independent designers. Take a small detour into Soho and you'll find a host of really interesting traders to bag pieces none of your friends will have! Alex Eagle Studio for instance is only 10 minutes walk from Oxford Circus on Lexington Street. The studio offers a beautifully honed edit of fashion, furniture, art, design, photography, ceramics and rare books, all hand selected by creative director Alex Eagle.

And if you have time to spare, the 14 pedestrianised streets that make up Carnaby are one of London’s trendiest shopping destinations, lined with independent fashion boutiques and cutting-edge brands. Choose Love has to be the most wonderfully innovative - here you can buy real items and life-saving interventions which will go to refugees and displaced people across the world. "This year, shop with love."

King’s Road in Chelsea

Shoppers heading to the King's Road enjoy over a mile of retail heaven with over 150 shops. This leafy, well-heeled neighbourhood attracts a fair number of visitors, but the crowds are quieter than Oxford Street which helps with the allure.

King’s Road offers products for all tastes with a beautifully diverse melting pot of styles: trendy boutiques, unique labels, designer shops, high-street staples and a regular supply of pop-ups to add to the variety. Don’t forget the side streets which branch out beyond King’s Road – they are filled with hidden gems, such as Manolo Blahnik and Biondi Couture.

Smaller retailers here include the fantastically creative Bimba y Lola who have just one store in the UK currently. Expect bright colours and seriously playful pieces.

Camden Market

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that Camden Lock is one of the world’s most famous markets. Christmas markets can really help get you in the festive mood and Camden hosts one of the most creative in London.

With its distinct vibe, this destination is certainly a contrast to big-brand shopping. Wander round the eclectic mix of stores and stalls at your leisure: from bespoke clothing to jewellery, wall-art to make-up-art and furniture to crafts.

Rokit has a great collection of vintage clothing, designer & branded clothing and has an amazing disrupt the fashion chain and create a more sustainable future for the planet.

Victoria Beau‘s little store in Camden, focuses on offering unique feel-good clothing and accessories for modern day women. Pop in for on-trend pieces and wardrobe wonders.

Chic cafes, cool bars and top-notch street food are also readily on hand around the market to keep you well fueled.

No two days are ever the same at Camden Market. Keep checking back to see what's new and what's next.

Covent Garden

Offering a range of world-renowned fashion, beauty and lifestyle stores, Covent Garden is one of London’s most popular Christmas shopping destinations for good reason. The area boasts a unique blend of global and independent brands curated to satisfy every shopping desire.

Covent Garden’s cobbled piazza and market buildings are dressed beautifully for Christmas. The huge 60ft hand-picked tree has arrived and is sparkling across the piazza.

Covent Garden has a formidable reputation for creative, innovative retail outlets. Long Acre is home to some of the most well-known indie shops in the city, offering shopping something creatively different. In the market, Benjamin Pollock’s Toyshop has been selling toys and games to discerning adults and children alike for over 100 years.

Marylebone Village

Marylebone Village is more than just your typical high street. Nestled between the picturesque haven of Regent's Park and the delights of Mayfair, this wonderful shopping area is a firm favourite with locals, but remains largely unknown to tourists.

Behind the beautiful facades that line the streets, shoppers can find a diverse range of boutique shops, luxury name brand stores, home stores, beauty and wellness shops. Enjoy the small-town, relaxed vibe whilst shopping here, with the knowledge that Oxford Street is only a few streets away should you wish to venture into a more mainstream shopping experience.

RIXO is a must visit for female fashion with a philosophy to evoke a wanderlust and free spirit, filling a gap in the contemporary market with easy-to-wear, feminine shapes and high-quality materials.
